Hi, everyone,

When designing a building structure, do you ever use yield strength 50 ksi for W-shapes? And I am also wondering what's the difference between A441 with 50 ksi and A572 Grade 50, in performance or in cost?

Thanks very much for your reply in advance!

The predominant wide flange shape spec is now becoming A992, which is a 50 ksi product. Indications are the A36 is becoming more expensive than 50k in many situations. A992 is basically equivalent to A572 Gr. 50.
