Zero Thickness

Is there a way to have zero thickness in SW 2004? I dont want to disjoint anything, I might want to put a c'bore with 3/8 dia 3/16 away from the edge for example. I know i can lie to it, but is there is an option for that? Thanks

I can't think of a way to get SW to do that.

Mostly, I'm curious as to why you would put such a feature into your design. That thin web will be nothing but trouble. If your c'bore is that close to an edge, perhaps you ought to mill it from the side.

Its more of an annoying thing. That was just an example but along the same lines, if you tap a 1/4-20 hole in a .500 block using the hole wizard, the default depth of thread is .5 thus creating o zero thickness there shows an error.

The default depth of all Hole Wizard threads is 2xOD, but just because it's the default doesn't mean you can't change it. Just select the Through all, or any other workable, option in the drilled & thread depths.

When you say you can lie, I assume you put in a value of .3749999 for the CBore or something close so SW thinks there is some thickness. You can create a favorite that has these values and use it in this situation.

sounds like the idea of milling in from the edge/side of the item to accomplish the task, would be more simple, than trying to c-bore so close to the edge.
