I am pretty new to the rendering side of things. I have been fudging for a year or so but now I need to create a bunch of renderings of product and everything needs to be stadardized. I have about 10 products that I need to render and the scale of the products all needs to be the same. I also need to get the parts all oriented at the same angles. I can handle the angle orientation but how do I set the zoom.

Why don't you setup actual cameras? You can set those for all the products the same way and location. Camera are recommended anyway when rendering.

Everything should be rendered through a camera. Also setup a studio assembly. The assembly contains your backdrop, cameras, render settings, etc. Drop you products into the studio and render out. Think like a photographer when setting up renders.

In SW2013, you can save customized orientation views to be used globally.

For your need, insert all the parts into one single assembly. Now set the orientation and zoom as required. Hide all except one. run the rendering, then hide that and show second. Repeat.

Deepak,

How many total Orientation Views can you have before crashing out SolidWorks I believe this was still an issue in 212 I think it went to 24-32 or so then it went Crashy-Crashy. I may be wrong but I remember someone mentioning this as an issue at a SWUG meeting.

I stumbled across the cameras yesterday afternoon. Aiming the camera is something else. I ended up creating 1 assembly with a bunch of configurations for all the different products. I have a dummy block the camera is aimed at and then oriented 1 product to get the correct angle. I locked that in place and now all the other products get mated to the first module.

I had never used cameras before I would just get a good view on the screen and then render. I sure wish there were some tutorials on Photoview. I only use it about once every couple of months but it is usually a rush job so I never really get time to actually learn the software it is more of get it good enough. Although it is good enough that people like the renders better than the actual pictures of the parts.

Thank you everyone for your feed back and help,
Glenn
