WHich is better suited to being used as guideways in high speed mechanical slides?
Currently we spec Silicon Bronze, but our sister company in the UK is having trouble locating a distributor, but they can get Aluminum Bronze. I need to advise if this is a good replacement but can't find any comparrisons.
Thanks in advance for your help.

The Aluminum bronze should be fine in this application. I had a reference document that I was able to download (I believe it was from copper.org) some time ago that describes the various aluminum bronze alloys, and industrial applications.

With reference to your mechanical guide application, and I quote; "Aluminum bronzes are used as bearing materials and for guides....”

Try this web site. It contains excellent information on various copper and copper base alloys;
