I have a small contact (.042" outside dia x .00175" wall x .009" wide)standing on the cylinder surface. If a parallel mating surface came down, once it started to displace the contact, what are the predicted reactionary forces and do I exceed the elastic limit? The measurements need to be calculated @ .0005" steps from .042" to .036"
The material is Be Cu 25. Please advise

Are you asking how to set-up the constraints to run this simulation in COSMOS, or are you asking for someone to do your homework?

Just how to set up the constraints & forces on a cylinderical object.

Sorry Joe, I had to ask that question. You need to run a non-linear analysis on your model. I’m stuck with COMOSworks 2005 Sp4.0, and we don’t have any non-linear capabilities. If you look in COMOS Help Topics under "Displacement Control" it should lead you down the right path.
