e-drawings of large assemblies

When I create an e-drawing of an assembly made up of several parts and sub-assemblies, the views seem to be cut off, as though there was a clipping plane between the object and the viewer. What causes this to happen?

The drawing shows a milling machine inside a building. Another shows a milling cutter with a number of carbide inserts placed on it.

I am using Solidworks 2001 and the associated version of e-drawings, version 1.4.1.

Thanks for any help.

I think it has to do with your video card. Sometimes when I do work from home (SWX2001) and send Edrawings from there I will have this, but when I send the same thing from work (SWX2001) I don't.

At home I have a nVidia Geforce2 MX400 64mb, but at work I have a Gloria III... so that's what I am thinking.

Of course it might also have to do with the fact that SWX has a "set-size design space" which limits how large of an assembly/part you can make. I do not remember how big this is, but I am sure someone will post this size shortly. Not sure if this still exists in SWX01+. I have been wondering about my video card. It is a 3D Labs Oxygen card. It shows "passed" on the SolidWorks web site but does give some strange effects. When you pass the cursor over a model, the edges become highlighted in red. In certain situations it leaves a mouse trail of a box with the command? in it.

Regarding the size of the design space, it is a one kilometer cube. For me, this only has been a problem if I try to draw an arc with a radius of more than one kilometer, and I've found a work around for that.

Thanks for your help, it seems as though Solidworks is quite sensitive to the video card.

Hi there. There is on the web site a page to do with the video cards and I think the one you are talking about is on there.
