Hi,

I'm new using SAP2000. if i design Cold-Formed (Specially Hat Section) do i have to angle the local axes?
coz if i'm looking on the site there's different local axes in SAP.

once more... could i have the example? i would like to compare with i'm doing on SAP

thx

Recommended for you

1) If you put the hat sections on a roof or wall, yes you have to rotate the sections and apply the loads in global axes or depends apply the loads in local axes depends on what you're doing

2) If you check the sections by the AISI code, i don't know why the ratios for cold-formed sections are not shown, i've contact the CSI the said they are still working on that. What i do is assign steel instead of cold steel to check the ratios

Thx Diquan,

Yes i got some result too (the ratios are not shown) SAP said it's too slender.

actually if on the site was not like that.

could you give me suggestion what software should i use it? because i allready seen some cold-formed software, most of them were using C's n Z's
