Anyone here old enough to have used an HP 1640 serial data analyzer? There's one I can borrow from the widow of a former work colleague, but she lives 1500 miles away, knows nothing about the device, and it would be a hassle for her to ship it to me, if it isn't what I can use.
I need to sniff and log a low traffic (1,000 msgs/month) RS-232 serial link that periodically corrupts about 10 of the 1,000 messages per month (each msg is about 30-40 ASCII characters).
I think the 1640 is aearly '80's analyzer, but I don't know if it has any storage or if what's on the display screen is the extent of what one gets. Not even sure how it connects to a link.
Anyone familiar with its capabilities?
Dan
