nfpa 14: standpipe drain risers 1

NFPA 14 requires a 3" drain riser adjacent to the standpipe if you have pressure limiting hose valve connections, so that the hose valves can be tested. I have a 5 story building with an automatic wet standpipe system, and it does need pressure limiting hose valves.

I don't quite get how the drain riser is to be used. Do you provide some kind of inlet hose connection at each floor to run a hose from the hose valve directly into the drain riser?
