Vaccum Distillation Tower which is operated at 20 mmhga top & 32 mmHga (flash zone ) pressure. Now in this case VGO droping in VR is relatively higher side ~ 2.8 - 3 wt% of crude.Steady state simulation studies shows that If VDU Column is operated under dry tower condition i.e. 6 mmHga top & 18 mmHga flashzone with No stripping steam in the column,VGO droping in VR can be minimized up to 2%max.but C-Factor of HVGO & Slop wax beds in the latter case will be around 0.64 & 0.58 ft/sec.

What are the standard limits of C-factor ? Is there any other solutions to minimize VGO droping in VR with out changing the column diameter ?

HVGO D1160 95 vol % is 582°C.So, any other deep cut in VDU Tower will call for metals & asphaltene slipage to Hydrotreaters,so that is also a constraint.
