Hello..all dear experts.!!

Very warm good morning to all of you..!!

In Crude distillation unit, crude oil after desalter and series of HE it enters in to the Flash vessel where crude oil is flashed and flashed vapors are taken out and it is routed to the flash zone of the curde distillation tower, rest bottom of the falsh vessel follows the series of HE to acheive 260 C which is followed by fired heaters to reach up to 386 before entering into the flash zone of the CDU tower. We have got finfan coolers in Overhead of CDU tower which acts as an condenser followed by Net gas compressors and HP reciever followed by subcooled condenser which cooles from 75 to 50 C.

Now as one school of thought, the idea to convert existing flash vessel in to 8-10 trays pretopping column and to connect its overhead vapours directly to the subcooled condenser with bypassing Net gas compressor i.e. it will be stopped/not required. For this scheme CDU tower will be operated from at present 0.8 kg/cm2g top pressure to 0.4 kg/cm2g top pressure.

Priliminary simulation study shows that the scheme is favorable i.e.column is getting converged with additional HAGO & RCO D86 5 % lift.

Up to what extent should we implement?
Request to throw some light on this.

Dear 25362,

Your link is asking me some ID/Passowrd to open full pdf article..is it possile for you to get it..!!

I'm not a subscriber. It seems ACS charges a fee per article print.

If you have access to a technical library, you'd find the article in Ind. Eng. Chem. Res. 2002, 41(12) pp 3003-3011.

Otherwise contact by e-mail: liblink@acs.org.
