I am looking for a valid equation that would verify demensions on an open channel with one inlet and two outlets.
In the design, I have a pipe entering an open channel at a high velocity and exiting the channel by two pipes with modulating gates. The gates should have the least amount of force applied to them from the fluid flowing in.
I am looking for an eqution or some references that would verify my dimensions for the channel.
the only reference I have come across is "Water treatment unit processes" By David W. Hendricks , which states
v(r=0)/vo * x/Do = 6.2
where:
v(r=0) = centerline velocity (m/s)
vo = velocity of jet emerging from nozzle (m/s)
x = distance from nozzle (m)
r = distance from centerline of jet (m)
Do = diameter of nozzle (m)
* all units in SI
