i am running a small analysis in which i have to connect components of shell elements with welds. which will give better results . results i require are displacements and stress.
which will give me acurate results tra-welds or rigids.?
and what is the difference?
tra-weld means --- connecting the nodes with tra-elements

I think you'll have a hard time getting accurate displacement results with any method.
 
I recall once seeing a software package reviewed in Machine Design magazine that will Import results from Nastran and perform estimates of weld stresses. You might look around on the Machine Design web site to see if you can find it. If I run across this information, I'll reply with another note. David R. Dearth, P.E.
