Dears,
According to the low production profile our company decide to shut down one of the crude oil pumping station for say one year. the station have a DCS and many kinds of PLCs plus the field instruments.
What is the best way to reserve the PLCs and associated instruments, keep in mind the control room will still supplied with power for lighting and others.
Your help will be highly appreciated
Best regards

maybe because they think the price is going to be $200 in a year. 900% profit beats inflation adjusted 400% profit by quite a bit.

Generally speaking, you're better off turning off the equipment, particularly for such a long down period. Having the power on continues to accumulate potential failure time. However, restarting systems from a cold start is not without risks. If the equipment is going to be unattended, then shutting them off would be the way to go.
