Tedds has a free trial version, or use too. I used the trial version for a while and found that it was okay. We used it mostly for concrete anchor design and I found it overly conservative. The report printing was very well done though.
As far as comparison, we used to use Enercalc, now we used TEDDS. Figure that out for yourself. I've been designing concrete for dang near 40 years and TEDDS finds things I never knew were in the code.
As far as costs, I'm almost positive that unless there's a single user license, TEDDS will cost more. But the presentation and assistance is well worth it.
Probably why everyone uses Enercalc. I know a single user license costs about $2,200 for Enercalc and I thought that was a bit steep. So it Enercalc is the more economical solution I can just imagine.
Contact your local TEKLA dealer (TEKLA owns tedds). At the end of this month they are dropping their light version of TEDDS for the TEDDS for word. You might be able to get a really good deal (Like half price). But do it fast, like before May 29th I think.
The Tedd's with word is far more versatile if you want to group multiple calc sheets or create your own sheets. You can use the word embed option to embed existing excel sheets as well. I suspect the reason they are dropping the light version is because 75% of their customers buy the version with word.
