Hey. I was looking for how these ramps were built but couldn't find anything.
In case of concrete suspended by this steel cables, I was wondering if they could be fixed directly to the slabs, not to the beams. What do you think?
Have you ever seen something like this?

I dont know that they that ceiling is reinforced concrete, but rather a finish. There certainly could be framing behind it. Even it was a slab, the anchor itself wouldnt be that much of a load. Lets say those little concrete panels are 8 ft long, 2 feet wide, and 4 inches thick. Thats 50 psf + 100 psf live load. thats 2400 lbs per panel. Assuming each cable carries a quarter of the panel weight, and theres two panels per cable. You're looking at a service load of about 1200 lbs. Thats not that much for an anchor in pure tensions, provided its installed correctly. As for the slab above, I'd almost design a slab for 200 psf live load, which with a composite deck, or post tension beam/slab system I dont think would be too difficult.

Pretty neat design! I believe that was the staircase at the Convair Astronautics headquarters before it was purchased by General Dynamics and later demolished. I think the ramp was most likely made of aluminum or a much lighter material than concrete and tied back to a central hub in the bottom center as you can see in the first photo you posted.

I found these photos online and screen snipped!.... Pretty neat staircase! And they load tested it....

Could have had a Hyatt Regency walkway situation on their hands...
