Estimation of leak through psv

Hello everyone,

During plant startup, I noticed ice formation on the PSV discharge line, which indicated there was a leak. However, the operating pressure did not exceed the psv set pressure. I was wondering how to measure the leak rate!? The media was liquid oxygen.
And when assuming the operating pressure exceeding the set pressure, how would I calculate the flow to atm?

Thanks in advance

Very difficult without some form of flow sensing in the discharge line.

Flow when relieving should be part of the process design to ensure that the pressure cannot rise above the design pressure / MAWP of a vessel.

The relief valve data sheet will provide the max flow, usually in kg/hr.

Since this equipment appears to be new, why don't you require that the PSV be replaced?

He's got liquid oxygen, not VOC though.
