Contractor is proposing to spray magnesium chloride on the ground surface every 2 to 3 weeks to reduce evaporation and loss of subsurface moisture during construction. I've heard of it's use for dust control, but never to prevent evaporation.
We are in a dry climate where we have more evaporation than precipitation. Does anybody have a reference for how much moisture will penetrate the magnesium chloride coating on the ground surface?
