Masonry Textbook Recommendation

Linked below is the best (yet outdated) Masonry textbook for me. I was hoping they would come out with a 2018 version but looks like that isn't happening. Anyone has any suggestion for a Masonry Design book? I'm updating some of my references to match the current code cycle. TIA.

You're updating your textbooks to reflect code changes....fuck, that's a lot of paper dude!

Can't help with the whole updated for code cycle thing, but in general the absolute man for masonry design in Canada is / was Drysdale. Pretty sure that was a reputation shared world round. Here's his book which is the only one for masonry I have on the shelf.

I've got Masonry Structures by Drysdale and Hamid as enable mentions... also an older one titled, Engineered Masonry Design by Glanville and a couple of others... both excellent books. The latter has excellent design examples. [pipe]

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Do you feel any better?

The Glanville books are great for Canadian engineers.

Bribe a local engineering student to find you one in the university's digital database. They'll probably do it for a pizza. Also ask interns and new graduates.

Also this one comes highly reccomended as well. Many Practical examples and some design aids as well

Those 2 texts recommended are from the same folks. Which one do you recommend more? Looks like one is solely on strength design as that is only 1 section of the TMS.

@LockBT if I had to buy one right now it would be the Strength Design Manual by Bennett and Hochwalt.

The conclusion we have reached in our office is that TMS is basically not updating the ASD provisions. Were getting more strength out of LRFD design methods in the last few code updates that are not reflected in ASD design provisions. For example if you look at just anchorage strength using ASD vs LRFD since 2008, LRFD is getting increased and ASD staying the same. I think its TMS' way of weening us off strength design lol.

I have noticed that too. It seems as though they are moving towards their cousin the ACI. Strength design methodology of Masonry and Reinforced Concrete are similar. I guess it would be a good idea to just phase out ASD and only have LRFD just like ACI
