Hi Friends

Does anybody know about the "boss" in flanges (B16.5) ?

Yes, what do you want to know?

See figure 13 and section 6.12.5

It's basically any additional metal on surface of the flange that you need to increase the depth of the flange in one particular section.

Dear LittleInch
Thank you for your reply
What is the difference between R.F and Boss as per attached DWG?

In that instance I would have said they were both raised faces as that is part of the flange design.

Whoever is calling it a "boss" is incorrect IMHO. The dimension of the blind flange and the RF part is specified in B16.5

A "boss" is normally something extra to the basic flange or fitting.
