Hi,

Its a basic concept, but got too carried away. Have the main beam to col. fixed connx. in the plane of main BM. and have the roof beams running perpendicular to main beam with metal deck perpendicular to roof beam. In this case can I consider the column to be laterally supported in both the long. and transverse direction. Trying to avoid using a brace in transverse direction if I can consider the roof beam and roof diaphragm action to act as a lateral support in that direction. the diaphragm is taken out by VBF at other ends

Thank you

I don't have the roof beam in line with the column to do a simple brace that's why thought of counting on the roof deck as support

Brace it!

For both compression flange of the beam buckling and web sidesway buckling.

Please brace it.
