Hi,
to check thermal expansion are in acceptable range, can we calculate flexibility in individual straight pipe in between bends (which is in a pipe line) using using eq. 1(a) and eq. 17 in ASME B31.3(2020) CODE?
eq.(a) => SA = f (1.25Sc + 0.25Sh)
eq.17 => SE = ((Sa+Sb)^2 + (2St)^2)^0.5
I am aware that 1st equation does not length dependant and 2nd one length dependant as it contains resultant bending stress (Sb).
I assume Intensification factors are equal to 1(one).
in a single straight pipe, torsional moment, torsional stress will be equal to 0(zero) I assume, or does it still need to calculate considering the pipe itself?
The allowable displacement stress SA should be higher than Computed displacement stress statement still valid for a individual straight pipes in a pipe line, right?
any tips of calculating in-plane bending moment range and out plane bending moment?
I came across some calculations on spielvogel's piping stress calculations simplified book. but all calculations are done on more than one straight pipe.
Any thought on this? any source of information or calculations?
I am trying to do this in a excel sheet.
Thank you.
