Dear forum,

Please help me with the understanding of Flange face finish defect acceptance.
In general in service flange face finish defect acceptance criteria is given in ASME PCC-1 Appendix D.
But i have a following question - when pitting / gouges are close to each other on sealing face - we can sum their radial projection and and evaluate afterwards...
But if pitting / gouges are far away from each other (still being on the same radius) what happens then - do we have the same approach and sum their individual radial projections?
Please find attached picture for reference...

Thank you so much...

Is this flange inservice or is a new one?
Depth of pitting?
Flange diameter, Class and material?

If they're far way from each other, just evaluate each defect on its own. PCC-1 gives proximity requirements.
