Looking for: A pivot assembly which is smooth but also has enough friction to hold 1kg.

Hello all
I'm new to this forum but wondered if anyone could help..

I'm working on a pivot for a bracket which needs to have the following:

- Smooth movement
- Consistent friction to stop it slipping gradually (ideally)
- Not so tight friction wise that it is hard to rotate
- Be able to support around 1kg of weight
- Fit into a hole of a diameter of around 4-10mm
- Ideally be less than 4-6mm in thickness

I have a few approaches:

- Simplest but least reliable(shown in picture) is to have a bolt+washer assembly which once tightened has enough friction to hold it in place.
- The issue with this is over time the bolt has the potential to loosen / grind the washer down

The other option was to find a bearing that has smooth movement but a 'constant' level of friction. I can't find / source this, except this one but this is too expensive.
The final option was to use a nut that holds down a compressed spring to create friction + nylon washer assembly.

I wondered if anyone on here knows of something that could work here?
Or if there are any components that i haven't thought of?

Any help greatly appreciated!!
Thank you!!

Charlie

Have you tried adding a belleville or other spring washer in that bolted joint?

That's probably the best economical choice but I would suggest a wave spring over bellville for a more compact installation.
