Looking for Substitute for MIC-6 cast aluminum for hot seal dies

We are looking at a reduced availability of MIC-6 Cast Aluminum Tool and Jig material which we have used for years for our heated seal dies. An alternative called CAST5000 has been suggested by our vendor. I need to confirm that it is acceptable and have tried to collect properties for both MIC-6 and CAST5000 so a comparison can be made.

The critical properties are Coefficient of Thermal Conductivity, Coefficient of Thermal Expansion, Specific Heat, Density, Glass Transition Temperature or max recommended operating temperature.

Some of these are readily available while others aren't or if they are, they vary significantly from one source to another. The properties I'm having a hard time nailing down are: The Thermal Conductivity for CAST5000 (ACP 5080R). It spans a wide range from 63 - 81 Btu/(ft* h°F). I have a value for Specific Heat for one of the materials but not the other. The closest thing I have found to Glass Transition Temperature is a comment that MIC-6 is good for thermal cycling up to 800 degrees F. I have found no similar comment for CAST 5000.

If anyone could point me to a good source for this info and/or has experience using aluminum sealing dies for plastic films I would appreciate your input.

Thanks,

I caution you about comparing TC values (CTE also).
They depend on how it was measured.
I have seen data on these coming out of national labs that were different by 50%.
As long as you are talking about alloys with roughly the same Al content and similar alloying elements the properties can't be too different.
Have you tried Aluminum.org?
