Hi all,
According to AWS D1.5, table 8.1, CJP butt joints in tension are required to be tested using RT. The contractor is requesting that the RT requirement be voided and replaced with any other testing. They are having issues placing the edge bars in the rounded weld access holes for the splices. They propose doing UT NDT but I am not sure about this. Does anyone know of any substitution clause or have experience with substitutions for RT testing? Any help or references are greatly appreciated!
