I am looking for a good book explaining the Centrifugal Compressors (Theory, calculations, operation, maintenance, etc).
i am not a designer however, in many occasions i need to calculate some important parameters such as shaft power, polytropic efficiency, discharge pressure,..
I need advice please.
Thanks

See Google for the book authored by Ludtke - a second hand copy may be cheaper.

For a quick primer, see Perry Chem Engg Handbook. Info here is split between the chapter on "Fluids Transport" and the chapter on Heat Transfer - subsection on refrigeration compressors.

I learned most of what I know on shaft seal configuration and operations related matters from rotating machinery engineers and plant Operations staff - not available in textbooks as far as I know.

What exactly is the problem?

Dear georgeverghese,
Thanks for the suggestion.
Currently, there is no problem however, sometimes i am facing some running conditions which i cannot explain. for example, in our facility (oil producer) we have a centrifugal compressor for natural gas injection (4 stages producing 350 BARG). First and second stages are designated as LP. 3rd and 4th stages are designated as HP. in the compressor data sheet i have observed a difference in the mass flow rate (standard flow) between the LP and HP i.e. LP is 70MMSCFD and HP is 60MMSCFD. there is no extraction in between the LP and HP stages. Only dehydration package. While checking the actual running conditions, difference in the mass flow rates was existing!!

Pierre,
Great suggestion.
Thanks

Removal of water vapor at dehydration unit between LP and HP cannot be as much as 10mmscfd; there may be some error in the mass flow readout or flow correction algorithm between these 2 flow meters, or it could be some liquid carryover in the feedgas stream to LP stage 1 suction ( from some upstream separator) causing this discrepancy.
