Hi,
As per the European Pressure Equipment Directive...
If a piping assembly is designed for example to 30 bar ( Example category 2), but the max operating pressure shall be limited to less than 5 bar (Example Category 1)by PRVs, where does this leave the manufacturer with regards to the use of a Notified Body?

Weve had such occasions several times. For us it depends on the spec break on PID. That’s were you’re, as a manufacturer of the assembly, take responsibility for in your risk and hazard analysis. The equipment that you use thus can have a higher rating than that shown on PID, for example when you buy off the shelf items which are often rated higher. However, the highest category found in the scope of the assembly that you ‘put on the market’s is what counts, under the conditions for which that scope is offered to the market.
