I am doing an assignment where i have to derive an equation for the critical moment of lateral torsional buckling in rectangular hollow flange beams. I have come across this paper,(i have attached the file and pictures) it derived the Mcr equation for castellated I section beam, the problem is i do not see the difference in deriving the Mcr equation for hollow flange beams and i section beams. Am i missing something? Obviously J and I will be different, but other than that, it seems to be the same.
