Steel angle supporting masonry brick (minimum leg length distance)

if a maximum length distance (minimum bearing) is given for a steel angle supporting a brick. What would then be the minimum distance ? couldn't find on any code or article.

I've always ensured that the leg supported a minimum of 2/3 of the brick width.
(not sure I'm following your question though)

The minimum distance would be to provide for the ethafoam backer rod and the caulking, with the caulking at the edge of the brick. A caution with that detail. As the caulking depth increases, the ductility of the caulked joint diminishes.
