Is the material user defined parameter SELECT_JIS_NAME defined as being a string type?

I just looked through the Parameters "Default" list for the part.

There is no parameter "SELECT_JIS_NAME"


Did I look in the right place?

No, it is in the material properties.
File - Prepare - Model Properties
Select change next to your Material
On the right panel is the list of properties: Structural, Thermal, Fluid, Miscellaneous, Appearance and User Defined.
Click on User Defined and your SELECT_JIS_NAME needs to be in that list with a Type value of String and aValue to be set by your relation.

If you don't have this, then you will need to go to your material files and add the parameter and its value.

In the material file you need these lines:
{
Name = SELECT_JIS_NAME
Type = String
Default = '<your value goes here>'
Access = Full
},

Here is a typical entry on the material files...

I noticed the SELECT_JIS_NAME section ended with }} and not }, as you specified.

The final entry in the material files ends in the double }}.
It is a paired entry termination from Unix days.
Count the braces in your file and you will see it.

It's the right hand side, not the left.

I tend to think this is a bug that the SELECT_JIS_NAME is not being seen as a material parameter, just a regular parameter.

Your sample part does not have the User Defined parameter in the material for SELECT_JIS_NAME.

There is no problem with using SELECT_JIS_NAME, you just don't have your material file defined properly.
Go back and look at the sample start_part and material file I uploaded.
