Hello

We are looking for a device that can clean underwater pipelines (Desalination Intake Pipes)to remove marine fouling. Device can be a robot which is the ideal solution, or a mechanical device. Cleaning device could clean by using brushes, water jetting or combination of both, or other.

About some conceptual features I would said:

1. Device must be capable to have a functionality like an umbrella, I mean it can enter into de pipeline and then expand or retract it size to fit internal diameter

2. As there is a chloride pipe internally, the device must avoid to touch it.

3. Device must be capable to move inside pipeline at a certain speed.

4. Device must be capable to adjust speed (meters/minute) , rotation (RPM), water pressure for jetting (bars)

There are some solution in the market to clean ground pipelines, but I couldn't find too many development for underwater, except piggies.

Let me know if there is any similar solution already in the market, or someone can help to develop a prototype.

Cheers

Paulo

I'd recommend the simple solution. Scraper pigs. Run them once a week, or whatever frequency keeps the pipe clean.

Inventing a specific robotic solution sounds kool, but it's very expensive and time consuming. Best left to those that want to assume such risks.

what sort of distance or access points do you have?

Search large sewer line cleaning. or large outfall clenaing. things like this appear.
The sewage industry has been doing this for centuries and has far better ways of cleaning cr*p off the inside of pipes like that than us pipeliners ever do.

Indeed one version of why pigs are called pigs is that they used to put a pig animal into medieval blocked sewers and wait for it to eat itself out.... Think it's bollocks myself, but the myth persists.

Utility companies, especially those with outfalls

Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

Isn't the myth the part about medievals having sewers other than the center of the street?
The Texas version is about tightly wound balls of barbed wire scream like a pig.
