Hello everyone,

I am curious about your experiences with Vulcanized O-Rings compared to One-piece molded O-rings for non-standard o-rings. Have you encountered any failures with Vulcanized O-Rings? Your insights would be appreciated. In one of the instance, our vendor is quoting Vulcanized O-Rings so I wanted to know this.

Dynamic application. Also, have you encountered vulcanized O-ring failures in static applications before?

I've glued some o-rings in the past but I avoid the process now. However, even with vulcanization it seems that o-ring splicers suggest or strongly state their products are acceptable for static applications only.

This one says ok for static:

This one says must not use for dynamic:

I have used them before in prototype quantities for a static, low pressure application.

I would trust the manufacturer to do a much better job than I can in house with one of those vulcanizing kits. I would not trust them for a dynamic application. If you really need a custom size, get a custom molded solution. Still cheap, still fast.

Thanks to everyone for your responses. I value your input.
