Hmmmm watching this... hope they recognize how tricky the SR-71 Stability & Control & Handling really is/was... any why it had ejection seats...

I suppose that [2] afterburning J85s [MIL version of the CJ610] would make this 'too-much of a tiger-by-the-tail'...

Neat... I understand that it was inherently unstable and that this was corrected by computer systems. It's a marvelous looking aircraft.

Dik...

On one-hand, this 'homebuilt SR-71 project' brings-to-mind a very serious quote regarding 'going cautiously'...

"Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.” --Lt. Col. Carlos A. Keasler

On the other-hand be 'where there is high risk, there can be high reward'...

"No Guts, No Glory!” --Major Gen. Frederick C. Blesse (also, Dad's Motto)

"No one remembers a coward - so - No guts No glory!” --Variation

A very bold project - Orange Aero's website speaks about many disciplines and capabilities but their list of projects/products doesn't seem to indicate a revenue stream appropriate to support a spec-build scaled SR. Could be confidentiality restrictions or their personal finances allow for a project of pure passion and conviction or it could be they are stretching. . . Either way the SR project is quite intriguing and for a well-heeled aficionado this would be quite a conversation piece. Near Mach 1 speed, two seater, monochrome black with chines . . .

I missed part of their website - looks like they have a range of products and a substantial staff. Orange Aero looks like a real deal.
