Hi,
I have a question about SAP 2000 staged construction and would appreciate if you could help me.
There are two options in Staged construction:
1. models the upper stage on the deformed position of the lower stage
2. Models the upper stage in its original position
My questions is about method 2. How the joints in the elements in the lower stage will be connected to the upper stage. As the lower stage had already deformed the joints cannot be connected to the joint of the upper level. I believe there is only two solutions 1. SAP 2000 connects the joints of the lower level (after deformation) to the joints of the upper stage. 2. Connects them via a rigid link.
Does anybody know what is actually happening inside SAP?
Thank you,
Shadi
