HI,

This is Pooja and I am a junior process engineer trying to gain knowledge in the field of Process Engineering.

I have the following questions and really appreciate if someone could help me with the answers.

1) From a Process Engineering point of view, what are the deliverables that exist in Basic Engineering and what are the inputs required for each such deliverable?

2) What are the deliverables that exist in Detailed Engineering and what are the inputs?

3) To develop a P&ID from scratch, what are the inputs required? Name all the documents.

4) How does an engineer decide whether the equipment should be horizontal or vertical during the equipment design? What are the factors that decide the orientation?

5) How to develop an operating manual? What are the required input documents?

6) Do we use checklist for developing PFD, P&IDs and Valves? If yes, can you provide some?

7) Guidelines on separator sizing?

8) Guidelines on Knockout Drum sizing?

9) What is pump shut off and what are the procedures to follow before and after shutoff?

I appreciate it if someone could provide some type of answer to the above questions. I tried searching Google for answers, but I was not able to find precise answers for most of the questions.
