Shear Wall Rebar Questions 1

Hello,

I am very new to the structural engineering profession and have a few quick questions.
For shear walls, what exactly are the vertical bars resisting? Are they resisting the axial forces and moments?
Also, what exactly are the horizontal bars in a shear wall resisting? Are they resisting the horizontal shear forces?

Vertical bars resist bending moment caused by wind pressure when the wall spans between floors.
Vertical bars near the ends of the wall resist tension or uplift. They are needed at both ends because the wind can blow both ways.
Horizontal bars resist diagonal tension due to lateral in-plane forces, similar to stirrups in beams. They resist bending moment caused by wind pressure when the wall spans between columns.
All bars resist temperature and shrinkage stress.
