Hello everyone,

For all avionics enthusiasts, Do you know if the Garmin GTN650/625 can interface with Remote GNSS sensors? I would like to install equipment for RNAV and LPV, but unfortunately, I don’t have space to install two GTN650s in the cockpit. I need two GPS sources to ensure safety aspects.

I’ve seen that Genesys offers remote WAAS GPS receivers for en-route and approach navigation, but I’m not sure if with just one GTN650 I can set GPS1 (GTN650) and GPS2 (remote GNSS receiver)…

Thank you for your advice

i don't think so - garmin's specification is not mentioning anything similar to your requirements. Also what comes to my mind is fact that linking remote GPS sensor to the GTN will give you very limited level of system redundancy. For remote option, like mentioned by you Genesys or GPS 3000, most probably you will need FMS computer and some kind of MFD for visualisation /control.

I suggest this issue is best addressed in the Electrical/Electronic Engineering forums
OR maybe even... Homebuilt aircraft Instruments/Avionics/Electrical-System forums

I believe the flying club I'm in has 2 Cessna 172s equipped with single GNS650s and they are fully IFR capable. Why would you need 2 GPS sources? In any case, also try the Avionics forum in Pilots of America.com. No doubt somebody has already addressed what it is you are trying to do.
