That seems somewhat naive.
Any good politician knows that you don't drop a project like that.
The politically correct move is to instead start pushing the deadline back.

It takes about 8 years to build a modern nuke the rest is red tape. When the Brits built the first commercial nuke it took a year to design and 3 years to build, and ran for almost half a century.

greg, did yo mean to reply to your thread (on DEFRs), where I mention nukes as the "best" (most practical?) zero emission power source we have today (for the scale of energy we plan to replace) ?
