Hello,

PV Elite calculation report stated that "The CG is computed from the first Element From Node". So, where is this center of gravity actually measured from? Let say, the report stated that "Vessel CG in the Fabricated (Shop/Empty) Condition is at 2500 mm. Is 2500 mm CG location measured from datum or from the very first node? I just want to make sure because I can't really find anything on PV Elite help.

Thank you in advance!

I don't know PV Elite, but here's what I would do.

Make a simple model (2 or 3 rings and a couple of heads) all of identical thickness. You know the CG is exactly at the centre, so see what PV Elite reports. If that's still ambiguous make one of the heads thinner and see how the reported CG moves. Add another ring and see how the reported CG moves. Repeat with other simple changes until you're sure you understand PV Elite's method.

Good luck.
