For a seismic case on a circular slip surface using one of the simplified methods for Newmark sliding block (eg. Jibson) - what displacement are you actually calculating? For example, if you calculate a displacement of 200mm, does that mean you are calculating 200mm of displacement along the circular slip surface (i.e. the crest is essentially slumping)? Or is it horizontal only?

These methods get used pretty loosey-goosely to calculate displacements but I've never found a satisfactory answer about which way the displacement is going...or maybe I am missing something very obvious.
