API Recommended Practice 687 "Rotor Repair"-

In an earlier thread a correspondent was looking for information on shaft repairs. I have a similar task to carry out and one of the replies suggested that API 687 would be a good reference source. I am a bit reluctant to purchase this document without a bit more information.

Can anyone tell me (in general terms)what materials are covered in API 687 and what the scope of the document is in terms of the processes covered?

API 687 is a comprehensive document covering all materials used for shafts. It includes repair procedures from plating through flame spray, HVOF and welding along with audit methods, inspection and balancing.
