Airport Self-Service Fuel farm

Who will supply the fuel? They probably operate gas staions and have asupplier ready to jump.

Try ICAO (International Civil Aviation Association) or the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) if you are American, Transport Canada in Canada or your national aviation agency in other countries.

They would specify min. clearances and other site parameters. As for size of tanks and number of tanks that would be a commercial decision based on expected sales volume and the need for fuel turnover, delivery and holding costs etc.

Beyond this there would be the normal fuel facility requirements for environmental protection, spill containment, fire protection etc.

Also watch out for jurisdictional issues. Here in Canada any airport is federal jurisdiction. The municipal and provincial governments do not have any right to regulate safety and design issues. A good practice is to use the most stringent of any local, provincial or federal regulation that may apply. That way if jurisdiction transfers then you are OK. (Its just good conservative practice anyway.)

Also, to point out the obvious, go visit some airports that have such installations. I live in Salem, Oregon where we have suc a small facility. We are also lucky to be the State Capital so the State Aeronautics Division have their offices on the Salem Airport.
