Greetings,

Can anyone tell me where the list of JAR regulations are? I am assuming that these regs are very simular to our FAR regs in the U.S. Are there web pages with the JAR's listed in them, as there are for the FAR's?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Grant,

You're correct in that the JARs are quite similar to the FARs, there seems to have been quite an effort to keep the two relatively harmonized. I've worked very little with the JARs, so I'm not sure exactly how successful they've been.

Anyway, here's a link:

Now the site makes a point of mentioning that this is only Section 1 of the regulations; I don't know what or how many other sections there are, or their relevance. At first glance though, this link appears to be the FAR-based regs you're looking for.

I do know that the JAA regs have a much greater focus on advisory/interpretive material than the FARs. I believe (but it's been a while since I looked through this) that the JAA has a series of ACJs that run parallel to the JARs--like ACs but all together in a single document. Perhaps this is the other section/s the site is referring to.

I hope that helps and is correct; I'm certainly no authority on the JAA.

Regards

A previous reply to this thread gave the link to the JAA site. You can download most JAA Parts here, but the Acceptable Means of Compliance and Guidance Material (AMC-GM) for JAR is only available in hard-copy by subscription.
However, you may know that the JAA is in the process of transferring to the new European EASA authority. If you select the menu item 'Transition from JAA to EASA', you will find a large amount of material concerning the transition process. Down the page you will find several documents concerning AMC-GM. For example, the document titled 'Draft Part 21 AMC-GM' is virtually identical to the JAA21 version, including the paragraph numbering. It is certainly good enough as basic interpetative material for JAR21, but should be used with caution, due to the draft status.

Very good point crino.

What I was originally looking for what a comparison of FAR and JAA regulations. On this website, you are also capable of ordering the hardcopy of the current JAR's.

Thanks for your input!

Grant,
Just for your information if you are interested, the JAR's are NOT regulations. They are recommendations. The JAA has no inforcement ability like the FAA has. Each participating country's CAA has the right to pick and chose which JAR's they wish to adopt, if any. Hence, the reason the EU has created EASA, which will have enforcement ability. According to letters we have received from the FAA recently, it looks like EASA will be adopting the JAR's mostly intact.
