Hi
I am new to SW.
I have got 5 different versions of product in step format.
After importing into SW some parts remain original names
but most are renamed to Importedx.sld*. Then I want to bring
all 5 into one assy to compare them but now come conflicts with names and not few. How to overcome this. Only solution I have is time consuming renaming one-by-one in SW Explorer.

Linqur,

Go to file\open click on the assembly (one click so it's highlighted) then go to references. Their you can change the references of the parts that belong in the assembly and the path to those files. It's a little time consuming, but I like it rather than using SW explorer. I believe this can be done in SW explorer also, but I have been using for so long I find this way to be faster than that. Besides when your done there you just simply open the assembly file. I always, after the the assembly is open, I go to file\find references to make sure all the proper parts are there.

You can't have two parts with the same name, so you will have to change those (if you have any) before doing this.

Hope that helps, Scott Baugh, CSWP :)

Thanks Scott
This is a lot better than Explorer way.
Still a find-replace would be nice there...
or just original assy and part names used
after import.
