Measurement Over pins 1

I would like to know how to calculate pin diameters to measure the pitch in helical gears esp in girth gear and pinions.

Is there any software available to download

Machineries Handbook lists
1.44/dp for internal gears and
1.68/dp or 1.728/dp for external
gears.
For ball sizes, I use 1.875/dp for
the max ball size and 1.500/dp for
min ball size and round up or down
accordingly to a common ball diameter.
