    The reaction is not big: +- 15 kips. One column sits on the basement concrete wall, the other will sit on a steel beam located in the basement ceiling. I think the reaction is not a big deal in this case, more a stability, potential thrust cased by deflection (+-1"). Thanks,

    I think I will install flat 2x_s to the bottom of TJIs and transfer the lateral load (diagonally) through the diaphragm on the first floor walls. What do you think about such an idea? The floor depth is 24", but my joists and beams are only 14" (so there is room for the flat 2x_s). Thanks,
