Drawings with GD&T callouts but no Basic Dimensions

I see some drawings show gd&t without basic dimensions given. There is a little block onnthe drawing, says “basic dimensions are from CAD..” My questions/concerns: Most the time I’ve heard “drawings are amaster” so If now you rely on CAD. The question: are all cad software reads/shows...

    Is this callout practical?

I don't why. It doesn't let me attach 2 files at a time. here is the A sketchhttps://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=34866178-1779-4948-ab8d-6ed66447dada&file=Sketch_A.jpg

    Is this callout practical?

Hi, I just make up a sketch which is similar to a drawing we got from a customer. Would anyone see which sketch would behave practical callout. sketch A or A Mod? Thanks! https://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=1bb6ead2-2536-446a-b641-7fd69b9509c8&file=Sketch_A_Mod.jpg

Please see an attached picture and

Thank you. "The purpose of the drawing is to control the pocket width and its 45° edge." Actually the 45° has +.5°/0 on an original drawing. Is the new attached file a better callout? http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=3aad07fd-bde5-487b-b38e-8a52ad9a8660&file=BASICxyz.jpg

Please see an attached picture and can someone tell which one is a better callout? The old one: How is the 45° angle line inspected? The purpose of the drawing is to control the pocket width and its 45° edge...

Slot called out for True Position and Full Radius at 2 end.

Thanks John for your clearly explanation. (The ZERO Tol is in my example)

Slot called out for True Position and Full Radius at 2 end.

Hi John, From Fig. 7-33 on P125 (ASME Y14.5-2009), it stated "Tolerance zone equal to positional tolerance) which is ZERO for this case. Doesn't it use (M)to gain bonus here? Thanks, Brandon

Slot called out for True Position and Full Radius at 2 end.

Hi All, Please see attached picture and help me out.... 1/ Will 2 Radii need to be inspected for size? If yes what is a tolerance, +/-.002? 2/ What does True Position call for (a) Mid point of slot width and center of 2 radii? (b) Mid point of slot width or center of 2 radii? (c)...

GD&T: Part w/o locking datum feature. How to inspect?

To make sure all datum features are good "to use" should a flatness to be called out for |A| and a perpendicularity for |B|?http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=23a29920-7101-472c-a4d2-b37b774964bd&file=No_locking_datum_feature_Per.jpg

GD&T: Part w/o locking datum feature. How to inspect?

Thanks guys. Paul, so you means it should be use BEST FIT technique to check these holes? I've not tried to use best fit on my cmm running with Mitutoyo Mcosmos. How about another drawing attached here? The whole is not line up with any axis. Can I use one in 1st quadrant to lock then rotate...

GD&T: Part w/o locking datum feature. How to inspect?

Hi All, I guess this is an old question but I still see drawings here and there showed NO LOCKING DATUM FEATURE. Please see attached picture which is from ASME Y14.5-2009, page 121. The basic 8x 45deg is from vertical line to center of |B| and center of a hole. For calculating the TP, we need to...

Concentricity Callout. What does it mean?

Thanks John (powerhound). To my understanding, the design would go with fig 7-26 (on p122 in the 2009). The main thing is they want each .250"hole concentric to the cbore, |C|. Anyway, the callout is NOT right. Thanks for all of your guys' help. Have a great day!
