Balcony (Cantilever Slab) Suspended on Beam DETAIL

Dear all, Thank-you for your time, I am currently detailing a balcony to be cast in concrete in an already existing apartment. I plan to cast a beam internally which will be inserted in walls on each side, and a cantilever slab externally hanging from this beam (beam also acting as a counter...

Safe Load Tabled - Loading on Precast Concrete

Hi, (long read ahead - thanks for taking time to read) I have obtained the Safe Load Tables from a local supplier for Precast Concrete Planks (Sample Attached) with notes (attached). I am new to using precast elements, and would like to ask the following, if possible; 1. What is your opinion...

Slanted Stirrups - Beam Shear Reinforcment

Thankyou for your replies. @Tomfh It all boils down to good workmanship agreed. Having shear equal on both ends of the beam, would not make a difference in which direction the stirrup is inclined though? or you would use vertical stirrups in such case? @jaskamakkara Thanks for this. Yes, that...

Slanted Stirrups - Beam Shear Reinforcment

Hi, When designing for shear in a beam I consider vertical stirrups at the required spacing. Do you find that slanted stirrups (say 45degrees) are more effective to resist steel? Thankyou, and Regards

Transverse Reinforcement - One Way In-site Concrete Slab to EC2

Hi, I am trying to find reference to the percentage of Transverse steel reinforcement in EC2, but I cannot seem to find it. Anyone can direct me to this? How much transverse reinforcement do you provide (minimum) in a one-way slab? 15% area of concrete? or any ratio to main reinforcment...

Beam Capacity - Question in Principle

Dear All, Thankyou for your feedback. With regards to reinforcement, the slab is a simply supported slab (supported on two beams), that is why the steel reinforcement is in the bottom, i.e. tension. Perhaps you thought it is a cantilever slab? Sorry if i was not clear in my explanation. Regards

Beam Capacity - Question in Principle

Dear all, I have attached two scenarios of a reinforced concrete beam carrying a horizontal slab. In principle, would you say that in Scenario B, the beam has a higher load capacity than in Scenario A, considering that the whole depth is beneath the actual slab load, whereas in the other case...

Prestressed Safe load Tables - Line Load to Area load

Dear all, Hope you are well. I am new to Safe load tables (Prestressed concrete planks/slabs), and have obtained the safe load tables of local suppliers. 1. The load capacity is in terms of KN/m^2, and I am getting confused if I just need to divide my line load (300kn/m direction of span) by...
