While writing repair dispositions for composite aircraft for the most part I call out EA 9394 to fill in holes of various sizes that needed to be drilled out because of delamination's or whatever. This is considered a structural adhesive and does it's job well. I have been talking to a friend...
I finally got a hold of the Cherry aerospace rep. and he was extremely helpful. The short version is the 2 PN's will get you the same rivet. Here is the Cherry spec. Thank again for all your help. http://www.cherryaerospace.com/doc/stdpage/clock/cr2162.pdf?h=RZzan0wMTvdcaaCuEG1d_w2.
I'm looking at some print outs from CHERRYLOCK and CHERRYMAX but they don't have the information I'm looking for so I thought an Aerospace person smarter than myself (as there are countless)may be of some assistance. Does anyone know the difference between CR2162A-4-02 and CR2162-4-02? I can't...
My boss is telling me the change from -5 (UNF threads) to -5A (UNJF)means the threads are different and we can't use them. I can't find anything that shows the threads from a -5 to a -5A makes any difference. Is he correct or is there something I can show him to put his mind at ease?
Good Morning,
Our procurement team is having trouble finding a bolt and has asked engineering for some help. The primary drawing callout is NAS428-5-32 with the alternate being NAS1801-5-64. I can't seem to find the alternate anywhere so I'm not sure if it is even a good number. Is there...
Reworking a part means bringing it back to drawing requirements so changing the PN is not required but repairing means deviating from the original engineering in a way that is still acceptable to engineering. In the case above I changed the type on nutplate used for 2 of the 4 on the nut strip...
Good Morning,
I'm hoping to get some input from other engineers that have done Liaison engineering work in aerospace. I just completed my disposition on a discrepant item that changed a couple of nut-plates on a nut-strip because of mis-drilled holes. The last instruction in the disposition...
Thanks for all the great information. Is there any requirement for the notes section of the drawing that call out QQ-P-35-C must be changed to AMS-2700?
I have a vendor telling me that QQ-P-35C, TYP 2 VII has been superseded by AMS-2700. I can't find anything on this so I'm hoping someone here has much greater research powers and can point me in the right direction. Thank you all.
I know this is a little off topic but I'm hoping someone on this site can point me in the right direction. We are a small aerospace company with government contracts to install our products on military aircraft. We may be doing the same for some other aircraft and I was wondering what the...
Good Morning,
I'm currently in a discussion with other engineers and QA as to the requirement to prime a buck tail after a solid rivet has been driven. The rivets we use already come chemically treated and the area in question is not painted so I see no reason to prime the driven rivets. Does...
wktaylor, thank you for your concerns. I did some more research and found that sealants with chromate can cause crazing so we have decided to go with PR-1428, Class B. I want to thank you so much for all your help as it did point me in the right direction. Thanks again.
